Employ to Empower (ETE) supports entrepreneurs in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside (DTES) through empowerment. We provide access to personal and professional development and business resources through our three core programs: Development, Entrepreneurship, and Advocacy.

As part of the Entrepreneurship program, we provide business mentorship, tailored workshops, marketing and sales platforms, and affordable micro-loans. Our goal is to have a long-term impact on our members’ personal and economic well being. We also actively advocate for creating positive social change in the DTES.

Position Description

Title Description: Entrepreneurship Lead
Reporting To: Christina Wong, Executive Director
Location: Virtual and in-person
Desired Start Date: ASAP
Commitment: 12 months with the possibility of extending the term
Position Type: Part Time Contractor at 25 hours per week

Position Summary

The Entrepreneurship Lead will be primarily responsible for being the anchor of support for both mentors and entrepreneurs. For supporting the mentors, this would take place in the form of monthly-check ins and finding creative ways to engage them in our workshops. For entrepreneurs, this would involve providing customized, tailored support for any potential conflict that may arise as well as finding resources to help them grow their business (workshops, peer gatherings, in-person marketplace and make change marketplace). To ensure the success of the program, you will be the main person in charge of program evaluation (monitoring sales metrics) – tools will be distributed to you in early April 2022. Lastly, you will be responsible for pillar growth in terms of volunteer recruitment and training for any new incoming community mentors.
