Starting Date April 1, 2021

Organization Overview

Employ to Empower (ETE) supports residents in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside (DTES) community by providing access to development and entrepreneurial resources. Our resources include affordable micro-loans and business mentorship, with the goal of having a long-term impact on our members’ personal and economic well being. We also actively advocate for creating positive social change in the DTES.

This collaborative COVID-19 response mobilized Employ to Empower entrepreneurs from the DTES to offer 1:1 phone call support to socially isolated residents in the Downtown Eastside community. We recognize that entrepreneurs in our programs have lived expertise with poverty and homelessness, and are well-equipped and enthusiastic about giving back to their community through these phone calls. Each #CalltoEmpower peer supporter received an honorarium, mentorship, training, and administration
