Employ to Empower takes a compassion-focused, holistic approach to empowering residents in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside through development, entrepreneurship, and advocacy.
Stage 1 – Business Skills Building Program
A 10-week business fundamentals course that will offer you the tools to build a business plan.
Stage 2 – Mentorship Program
Upon completion of the 10-weekBusiness Skills Training program, you can apply to get access to:
- Personalized & group mentorship
- Access to micro-loans up to $10K
- Online e-commerce store to sell your product online
- Networking events – In person marketplace
- Monthly peer gatherings to contribute and ask for support for your business
- Free supportive counselling
- An occupational therapist to support you with anything related to personal well-being
Stage 3 – Advocacy
After After getting a couple of months of mentorship, share your story to help shift the stigma and educate the broader community on our platforms:
- Podcasts
- Talkshows
- Documentaries
- Workshops with private schools (subject to approval)

Step 1: We Build Trust
We believe in creating genuine human connection and building rapport with our members. No hard feelings if it’s not the right fit for you.
Step 2: We Connect You To Resources And Support You
We actively advocate for your journey, whether that means we have personalized mentorship meetings or hosting large scale events to raise awareness about your story and product.
Step 3: We Provide Access To Free Development Courses
Empowering your self confidence is our main priority. We offer a five-week, free program that teaches skills such as business planning, marketing, and cashflow.
Step 4: We Advocate For Your Journey
We actively advocate for your journey, whether that means we have personalized mentorship meetings or hosting large scale events to raise awareness about your story and product.
Step 5: We Build Your Business
Our Mentorship program gives access to free, weekly and personalized business mentorship, as well as affordable micro-loans. You must have completed our Business Skills Building program to be eligible to join the Mentorship program.
Step 6: We Stay With You
Once you have completed our Entrepreneurship program, we care about providing real long-term and ongoing support to you. We believe people are more than what they do and need. Talk to us.
