Employ to Empower is working to create a community of entrepreneurs in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, and we’re looking for your help. To succeed in our mission, we need donors, volunteers, and business mentors.
The Downtown Eastside is known for a lot of things, but what stands out when you are down here is the strength and resiliency of community – a community that endures through the ebbs and flows of the neighbourhood’s fortunes. At the core of that community are the people who work every day to build, and create – the entrepreneurs. Whether it is re-selling drinks and snacks to their neighbours, providing counselling and emotional support, or keeping the streets clean, our entrepreneurs work to make this a more livable place.
Employ to Empower works with leaders in this community, to realize their business goals, to grow their businesses and to overcome institutional hurdles. To each of our entrepreneurs we offer:
- 10-week Development course
- ongoing mentorship by a volunteer from the business community
- access to up to $10,000 in funding from our donors
- a co-working space, and virtual office package
